Q. What do I need to do before I bring my outboard / boat in for service or repair?
At the very least, we ask our customers have compliant vessels with proper, active registration and designation. Your boat must be registered in the state of Florida and compliant with boating regulations.
This is mainly a requirement for our customers who are requesting service for a performance issue that will require water testing.
**You may view all current FWC boating regulations and requirements here.**
Checklist
✔ Ensure all safety equipment is present on your boat. At least one non-inflatable US Coast guard compliant life jacket and/or throwable floatation device for boats 16ft +. Fire extinguishers are also required if a fuel tank or fuel cell is present.
If you are not a Florida resident, you are still required to receive validation of your registration.
✔Your trailer has proper alignment, lighting, etc. and is properly registered.
✔Your registration is up to date and all decals displayed properly for both your boat and trailer.
✔Ensure that you have fresh fuel and all batteries are in working order / charged.
Q. How much will I be charged for service / repair?
We have always done our best to be transparent, fair, affordable, and efficient. Our technicians will always provide you a fair estimate before any work on your engine takes place. Should we encounter any additional problems during a repair or maintenance service, we will always contact you and alert you of your options.
Please note, any estimates given over the phone or email are for your general reference only. We can only provide a valid estimate once we have physically assessed your outboard.
Standard labor rate is $125 per hour. This does not include the cost of parts or incidentals, such as oil, towels, etc. that are included as a minimal ‘shop fee‘ on your invoice. Additional fees may be assessed for accessories such as batteries, bilge pumps, etc. or trailer parts that are used during your service or repair.
Our technicians will assess the condition of your engine, the labor involved, parts cost, etc. while in possession of your watercraft. While we will always do our best to accommodate all of our customers, we may utilize our right to decline service or repair work for any reason during assessment.
Q. Do you still work on Evinrude-Johnson motors?
Yes, we do still accept new clients for repairs and service and still provide OEM parts at our shop. If you are interested in having one of our experts take a look at your Evinrude-Johnson outboard, kindly give us a call or click the ‘Contact Us’ button to give us the details about your outboard. One of our technicians will discuss your options with you depending on the year and model of your outboard. As Evinrude-Johnson outboards have been off the market since 2020, we ask for your patient as parts and supplies may be delayed for your model.
Q. Do I need an appointment for outboard service?
We do accept walk ins for outboard service and repair! However, we always recommend giving us a call before swinging by so that we can give you the best possible service.
Q. How much is your labor rate?
Labor rate is assessed at $125 per hour. Please keep in mind that this does not include the cost of parts, accessories, additional repair work, and incidentals such as lubricants, towels, etc. which you will find on your invoice as ‘shop fees.’
Any additional charges that may accrue during repair or service work, including during water testing, may also be included in your invoice under shop fees. This includes additional fuel, batteries, bilge pumps, and other replacement parts that may be required to operate your watercraft.
If you have any questions about your invoice, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We do not process parts orders or engine orders without phone or in person confirmation.
Special financing offers and promotions offered through Mercury Marine are always honored. Please apply to receive your pre-approval first before proceeding with your outboard purchase or repower. We do not offer in-house financing or installment plans for purchases.
